What Do Teenagers Want? A Dialogue with Peggy Taylor
Tue. June 23, 6 - 7:30
There is a tangible divide between adults and teenagers in today’s world. So much so, that adults often see teens as another species and social science research shows that trust in adults is at an all-time low for American youth. How do we bridge the gap and develop generative relationships not only with our own children and grandchildren, but with teens in our community and in the world at large? Peggy Taylor will share perspectives based on over a decade working with teens from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The organization she co-founded on Whidbey Island 12 years ago, Power of Hope: Youth Empowerment through the Arts, has touched the lives of thousands of teens and adult mentors - teachers, youth workers, artists, and others - who want to make a difference in the lives of young people.
The PYE Global network promotes best practices and connects people and programs doing leading edge work with youth. Arts-based transformative youthwork is powerful and joyful. It brings out the best in all of us, adults as well as youth. If you want to further your work activating the full potential of young people, please join us. We partner with communities across the world to provide transformative programs for youth. PYE Global’s Creative Community Model combines the expressive arts with motivational learning to develop creativity, personal power, cross-cultural competency and skills for leading purposeful lives.
Peggy is a creativity specialist, a musician, and writer with a Masters of Education in Creative Arts in Learning. She is co-founder and co-director of PYE Global: Partnership for Youth Empowerment. PYE is an international training organization that supports communities in providing intergenerational arts/empowerment programs for their youth.
