4th Annual Community Car Show, Saturday July 11, 11 am - 3 pm, Langley

“Cool Bayview Nights: A Community Car Show,” co-organized by Bayview Community Hall and Goosefoot, will take place on Saturday, July 11 from 11 am - 3 pm at Bayview Corner on Whidbey Island. There is a $10 entry fee per vehicle ($15 day of event).  Attendance to view the car show is free.

According to co-organizer Marian Myszkowski of Goosefoot, “our focus is on car lovers coming together to talk about what they love. Car show attendees pick the winner, not a jury.   We’d like to think that winning a trophy is icing on the cake.  But don’t get us wrong, we’ve got great trophies!” Bayview Hall’s Brian Grimm most enjoys the family nature of the event.  ”Parents feel comfortable bringing their kids, especially since admission is free and we have children’s activities.”

Trophy categories feature best of show, best appearing car with portfolio; best truck; best motorcycle; best pipes; best Model A; best antique (pre-1940); and best appearing from the decades of the 40’s through 80’s.  Two new categories this year are Best PT Cruiser and Best Foreign.

This year also features an essay contest on the topic of “My First Car.”  The top three entries will be published in the South Whidbey Record and prizes will be awarded on the day of the car show. All entries will be posted at Bayview.  The deadline for entries is June 10.  Contact Molly Cook of Skylark Writing Studio at 360-321-1910 or molly@skylarkwritingstudio.com for details.

Car show sponsors Serious Auto Body and The Green Car Company will have displays on car detailing and energy efficient and electric vehicles.

Plenty of good food will be available on site from the American Legion Post 141 and at the Bayview Farmer’s Market.

Other fun family events happening on Saturday include the Bayview Farmer’s Market (10 am - 2 pm), featuring food, craft, and produce vendors galore. This is at the same location as the Cool Bayview Nights Car Show.  And downtown Langley, just 3 short miles away, hosts their annual Choochokam arts festival all weekend (more information at http://www.visitlangley.com
